Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen

Along for the Ride is an adorable love story about second chances. Auden has been forced to grow up too fast and pretty much missed out on her childhood. She was mature for her age even before her parents’ divorce. Her parents’ focus has always been on academics, and Auden has definitely excelled academically. But she has missed out on having fun and everything social. Auden is now finished high school and will attend a really great university in the fall. She decides to visit her father, his new wife and their newborn daughter in Colby for the summer. She gets a job there, makes new friends and is brought into the social and girly life she never had. She also meets Eli, the fascinating and haunted former biking star. As they are both insomniacs, they spend their nights together. Eli helps Auden experience everything she has missed out on, while Auden discovers his past and helps him move on. The characters were very believable and well-developed. This novel was so sweet and engaging, and I love Sarah Dessen’s writing.
