The Maze Runner by James Dashner

The book begins with Thomas being brought up through an elevator to a strange glade filled with teen boys without knowing how he got there. No one in the glade knows either so they send out "runners" to map the maze. Thomas becomes a runner and he plays a key role in deciding the fate of the gladers. The story has plenty of action and a sense of peril throughout, although these are undermined by the hole which the authour dug himself into with the characters loss of memory. In order to advance the plot Thomas must conviently "remember" parts of his past which kind of ruins the mood. In spite of this I enjoyed the book and will read the sequels. Rating: 7.5/10
