Prophecy of the Sisters by Michelle Zink

At first glance Prophecy of the Sisters seems like a regular twin book with one good and one evil, but it is so much more than that!
This novel takes place in the late eighteen-hundreds with the protagonist Lia Milthorpe coping with the death of their father while her twin sister Alice helps console her sister. The two sisters are now orphaned, their mother had died long ago when they were small and now Lia looks to her twin for comfort in this sad time. But things change when Lia notice's a strange tattoo appear on her wrist, watches Alice performing a mysterious ritual late at night and discovers a prophecy of two sisters, passed down from her mother and aunt onto the two sisters.
This book is amazing! It isn't your average book about twins, it goes so much deeper. And the era chosen was a great choice to bring the author's characters into the mystery, suspense and beauty of the time. Prophecy of the Sisters had me hooked from the first line! It had me biting my nails, anxious for what would come next! I cannot wait for Guardian of the Gate to come out (August 1, so soon!).
