The Chrysalids by John Wyndham

This book takes place in the future, and is about a boy named David in a community where any abnormal humans are thrust out to the horrible fringes. David soon realizes that he too is out of the ordinary, for he had telepathic ability. However, he is perceived as a threat, instead of the usual deviations which occur. He has to flee for his life, and after a terrible battle between the Fringes people and his village's army, he is whisked away to find better life elsewhere. The Chrysalids is a compelling story of the harsh reality of man's power, yet fear of change. I thought that it was simply amazing!
